CASE Tool Workshop
Systems analysts use CASE tools to help them plan, build, and maintain information systems. To learn more about CASE tools, tum to Part B of the Toolkit that follows Chapter I 2. You can complete these tasks with the Visible Analyst® CASE tool, which is available with this textbook, or a similar tool.
Background
Suppose you are a part-time student assistant in the computer lab at your school. Janet Jacobs, the IT department chair, recently announced that a CASE tool will be installed on the lab network. Her decision was welcomed by many IT faculty members, who think it is important for students to learn about CASE tools and how to use them to complete assignments in MIS coursesYou have been asked to evaluate various CASE tools, and submit the results. Your initial tasks will be to provide an overview of the Visible Analyst® CASE tool, or a similar tool.
Tasks
1. Describe the user interface. Is it attractive and easy to use? Why or why not?
2. How do you open an existing project? How do you create a new project?
Consider a 210-MW steam power plant that operates on a simple non-ideal Rankine cycle, where the isentropic efficiency for both the turbine and the pump is 85%. Steam enters the turbine at 10 MPa and 500C and is cooled in the condenser at a pressure ..
Drilling fluid plays an important role in any drilling activity. It is the main controlling parameter in well control. Its main function is to control the bottom hole pressure (BHP) and stabilize the borehole. Therefore, it is very important to..
Then, estimate the simple payback and the payback with a 6% effective interest rate if the price of a sensor is $50 and the cost of installation is $40.
A converging nozzle with an exit diameter of 6 cm is attached to a reservoir maintained at 30-C and 150 kPa absolute. Determine the mass ?ux of air ?owing through the nozzle if the receiver exits to the atmosphere.
According to the Hall-Petch equation, Ostwald ripening follows the empirical rule. The recrystallization temperature of brass is higher than the recrystallization temperature of copper. The recrystallization temperature of bronze is lower than the re..
Write the form of the heat equation and the boundary/ initial conditions that determine the variation of temperature with position and time, T(x, t), in the pan bottom during Stage 1. Express your result in terms of the parameters qo, D, L, h, and T..
Solve the velocity distributions in the two fluids.
a balloon weights 250 pounds and has a volume of 14000 cubic feet. it is filled with helium which weights 0.0112 pound
Water at 20-C ?ows over a 3-m long and 2-m wide ?at plate at 3 m=s. Assume a turbulent ?ow from the leading edge (a trip wire at the leading edge can be used to cause the turbulence) and calculate:
Dimensions of the bulk modulus of elasticity are:
Explain why, while using low intensity heat sources, the strength of the material in a weld region can be reduced.
Reheat, where high pressure and low pressure turbines are used, is added to a simple steam cycle to increase the steam quality at the location where the steam exits the low pressure turbine and goes to the condenser.
