While on humanitarian trip to indonesia, Darlyn started to develop symptoms of severe watery diarrrhoe a day after eating dinner prepared by his host family. He realized that his host family had also had similar symptoms of severere a few days prior. Over the next few days, Daryl developed a low grade fever, severe stomarch cramping and his diarhhoe turned bloody. He even started to feel like he had to pass stool even though his bowels were empty. After three days of these symptoms, he went to a local clinic to seek medical aid. After further examinatuion, the doctor determined that Daryl also showed imflammed colon. A stool sample from Darlyl was collected for identification. One bacteria isolated was a Gram negative rod that is negative for lactose fementation and did not produce a gas when fermenting other carbohydrates in a phenol red broth tube.
