Research objective - How charities promote themselves, how do they recruit, induction process, what would make charities employee and keep people long term
Project Objectives
Carry out an internal environmental audit of Northumbria University relating to all activities for student volunteering (one of the target groups), this should consider students who are currently studying and those that have recently completed their studies.
Uni website, social media platforms, student union, speak with colleagues from the graduate future scheme (What do students look for in a volunteering role/ challenges and benefits, what to do in order to get more students involved.)
Carry out an external environment audit to:
understand the wider volunteering landscape in the Northeast of England and identify successes and challenges particularly during this cost-of-living crisis, and
identify best practices from organisations who are renowned for their volunteering programs and engagement.
Various groups, (Students, Retired people, is there any groups in-between?)
Identify the various groups of volunteers and recommend which ones to prioritise.
Provide insights into the benefits/positive experiences of volunteering.
Which ones to prioritise and why?
Identify the barriers to recruitment of volunteers and make recommendations for how they could be overcome.
- Both secondary and primary data here, speak to current volunteers (what do they get from it personally?)
Develop a fully costed volunteering recruitment strategy for the Business Clinic to support our clients in the charity sector.
