Problem

A mental process that I use everyday is emotion. I go through a handful of emotions per day, whether it's excitement of starting the new school year or it's nerves because I'm taking a difficult class this semester. A behavior I enforce within myself daily is responsibility. I make sure I get to work on time, get to school on time, complete all my homework assignments, do my chores around the house. A real world example would be addressing a child's tantrum. Describe: Observing the child's behavior (a tantrum) who is crying hysterically, throwing themselves on the floor, screaming, etc. Explain: Observe the child's habits and notice they throw a tantrum when they're not given a certain toy. You also notice they're tired and/or hungry. Predict: Use what you described and explained and make a sophisticated guess on how the child will behave in the future. Control: Use all the information previously gathered and come up with solutions to change the child's trending tantrums. While I find all psychological perspectives intriguing, I find cognitive perspective the most interesting. I am very drawn to this perspective because it studies the mental process of peoples problem-solving, decision-making, attention, etc. to understand how certain things influence behavior.
