Assessment: Qualitative Research Technique Review
Purpose
The purpose of this assessment is to help students develop an in-depth understanding of qualitative research techniques and how they are applied in real studies. By analysing how other researchers use these methods, students will gain practical insights into their strengths, limitations, and relevance to their own research interests.
Task Description: This is an individual assignment. Students are required to:
Select a Paper
Choose one recent, peer-reviewed qualitative research paper (published within the last 2-5 years) that is relevant to your research interests or academic field. No AI shortcuts — Get genuine assignment help from experienced, real tutors.
The paper must clearly use one or more qualitative analytical techniques (e.g., thematic analysis, grounded theory, discourse analysis, case study analysis, narrative analysis, etc.).
Systematically Review the Chosen Paper: the review should include the following:
Identification of the technique: What specific qualitative analytical method(s) did the researchers use?
Justification for the technique: Why was this method appropriate for their study aims and research questions?
Nature of the data: What kind of data did they collect (e.g., interviews, focus groups, observations, documents) and how was it analysed?
Findings and conclusions: What insights were generated through this method, and how do they connect to the research problem?
Strengths and limitations: Critically assess the benefits and weaknesses of the chosen method in this study.
Practical challenges: Reflect on what challenges might arise if you were to apply this method in your own area of research interest (e.g., access to participants, time constraints, ethical issues).
Integration of AI Tools
Discuss in your essay how AI could be applied to support qualitative methodologies (e.g., assisting with coding, identifying themes, or managing data) and highlight both its potential benefits and limitations.
