2. WORKPLACE EVIDENCE

This part of the RPL Kit requires you to provide evidence from the workplace. The evidence could be from your current workplace or one that you have recently been involved in however it must be in the aged care sector whilst performing the role of aged care support worker.

You may need to obtain permission from your workplace supervisor to be able to submit the documents requested. Please also ensure that you maintain confidentiality and remove or cross out any identifying names etc. on the documentation.

This documentation is to demonstrate that you contribute research information about compliance and ethical practice responsibilities and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities.

This unit of competency requires you to provide evidence of completing the following:

1. Follow safe work practices for direct client care

2. Follow safe work practices for manual handling

3. Follow safe work practices for infection control

4. Contribute to safe work practices in the workplace

5. Reflect on own safe work practices

The requirements of this unit also includes:

Provision of demonstrated evidence that the candidate has:

Completed the following tasks at least once in line with state/territory WHS regulations, relevant codes of practice and workplace procedures in the context of their workplace:

contributed to a workplace WHS meeting or inspection

conducted a workplace risk assessment and recorded the results

consistently applied workplace safety procedures in the day-to-day work activities required by the job role, including:

infection control

hazardous manual tasks

use of personal protective equipment

reporting incidents

followed workplace procedures for at least one simulated emergency situation.

3. Workplace Health and Safety Meeting

Provide minutes of a meeting which evidences your involvement in a workplace health and safety review.

4. Workplace Manual Handling Safety Inspection Sheet/Risk Assessment

Provide documentation which evidences your involvement in a workplace manual handling safety risk identification/assessment task.

Any of the following documents can be submitted as long as it contains the above-mentioned information required, i.e., one of the below documents is required for evidence of participation:

Hazard identification form

Safety hazard log

Risk register

Incident report form

Any relevant documentation containing information relevant to the above-mentioned required information

5. Workplace Infection Control Risk Assessment & Controls

Provide documentation which evidences your involvement in a workplace infection control risk assessment task.

Your document should include the measure you have taken to minimise the risks, e.g., types of PPE and other controls used.

Any of the following documents can be submitted as long as it contains the above-mentioned information required, i.e., one of the below documents is required for evidence of participation:

Hazard identification form

Safety hazard log

Risk register

Incident report form

Any relevant documentation containing information relevant to the above-mentioned required information

6. Emergency Procedures

Provide documentation which evidences your involvement in an emergency control procedure.

Any of the following documents can be submitted as long as it contains the above-mentioned information required, i.e., one of the below documents is required for evidence of participation:

Fire drill

Emergency evacuation drill

Incident report form

Any relevant documentation containing information relevant to the above-mentioned required information

7. Incident Reporting

Provide an incident report completed by you in the workplace.
