Brendan was born into a family that has a history of severe dysfunction - his father was arrested for domestic battery and possession of drugs, and served time in prison for a violent crime when Brendan was two. Even Brendan's entry into the world was stressful. He was briefly deprived of oxygen in the birthing process. As an infant, he was abused, and as a toddler, he was neglected. However, he was placed into foster care at age 6 and subsequently was adopted into a stable family. Discuss the likely physical and psychological problems facing Brendan as a result of his history.
