A four-year-old with a history of cold symptoms for two days visits the doctor. On examination, the doctor notices reddish, crusted lesions distributed over the child's back and chest but only a couple on the face. The child does nothave a sore throat or any lesions in or around the mouth.

  • The doctor suspects either varicella, measles, or coxsackievirus.
