For this discussion, we are going to look at the fight between local ordinances and state law. We are going to start with historical issues such as black codes, poll taxes, segregation, equal protection of the laws and voting laws. Then, we are going to take on more recent topics such as LGBTQ rights (gay marriage, HERO laws, transgender bathroom laws), sanctuary cities, fracking, abortion, etc. Do any online research necessary to be able to fully discuss the topics listed above.

1. How should the government weigh the predominant political culture against minority rights? (this includes historical and more recent discrimination)
