Question

Working in a hospital you are required to enter the room of a patient who is in isolation due to a highly contagious respiratory virus. While performing patient identification the patient begins to cough uncontrollably. The patient removes their mask to catch their breath while coughing heavily in your direction, resulting in airborne droplets landing on you and contaminating your PPE. The learner must identify hazards and act appropriately following Holmesglen Policy and Procedures to safely minimize the spread of the infectious disease by doffing and donning PPE and correctly disposing of contaminated PPE. What national standards and guidelines are related to the procedure required to manage this task?
