Imagine creating a Spoken Word to advocate for something that is important to you or highlights social change that needs to be made.

You will write a series of thematically linked poems, with the idea of turning one of them into a Spoken Word poem.

You will have an opportunity to contribute to the Virtual slam poetry fest.

You will write a minimum of 3 poems that advocate for something that is important to you, or that highlight a social change that needs to be made.

Be sure to incorporate the at least one of the common elements of First Peoples' oration:

Metaphor - comparing two things by saying one thing is another

Rhetorical structure - using words to persuade

Cyclical nature - returning in a regular pattern

Rhythm - movement caused by repeating words and phrases or even by repeating whole lines and sentences

Weaving narratives - using your words to tell a story
