Health and Illness in the Asian Population

This chapter introduces the background of Asian population's traditional definitions of health/illness/healing, traditional methods of health maintenance and protection, traditional methods of health restoration, current health problems, and health disparities in morbidity, mortality rates, and in manpower.

There are many elements that are in common among the cultures of the Asian people. Select three elements that are common in Asian cultures.

Describe the practices and how they are believed to promote, improve, and/or restore health. Determine how these practices can co-exist with Western medicine practices. Provide examples to illustrate your conclusion.
