Wing spot colouration in a hypothetical butterfly population is controlled by a single locus. Blue spotted individuals have the genotype S B S B ; Yellow spotted individuals have the genotype S Y S Y ; and Green spotted individuals have the genotype S B S Y ; Ten years ago, a museum randomly collected 1000 butterflies and reported finding 90 blue, 490 yellows, and 420 greens. This year, the same museum randomly collected 1000 butterflies and reported 40 blues, 640 yellows, and 320 greens. Has there been evolution in this population? If yes, is natural selection involved? Explain and justify the answers.
