A 10-V source is shown in given Figure that is used to power a 100-Ω load. Clearly, the load does not match the source resistance for maximum power.

A young engineer decides to obtain maximum power from the source by adding a 100-Ω shunt resistor across the load. Has he achieved his goal of having the load obtain maximum power from the source? Explain.
