When Sara filed a report, she did well as an adaptive leader. Adaptive leadership is a framework approach to addressing change and implementing solutions that help the organization adapt and overcome the change effectively (Leadershipahoy, 2020). Sara displayed emotional intelligence by identifying her own emotions and the emotions of her staff, particularly Ellen. She quickly and effectively mobilized her coworkers to develop a solution to the harassment problem (West Coast University, n.d.). This showed Sara to be emotionally intelligent and understand her coworkers' needs. Sara displayed emotional intelligence by identifying her feelings along with Ellen's feelings regarding the harassment allegations. Being honest and open with Ellen allowed her to feel safe speaking about her experience with Dr. Tkachyck (West Coast University, n.d.). Sara was able to come up with a solution that resulted in her reporting the allegations and helping to stop further harassment from hopefully occurring.

When Sara did not file a report, she did not show emotional intelligence. She could not identify her feelings or the feelings of her staff. She could not see the situation from Ellen's perspective and understand how the harassment was making Ellen feel (West Coast University, n.d.). Additionally, she was not able to communicate her experiences and feelings to Ellen, therefore not leading to any resolutions being made. Sara should have taken the proper steps in reporting the allegations of harassment as she is obligated to do so once being aware of them.
