The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation was founded in 1937. The Guggenheim Foundation's focus is on modern and contemporary works of art. Currently, three Guggenheim museums operate globally with a fourth museum to open soon and a fifth in the design phase. The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao by Frank Gehry.
