This is a great connection to be making... Let's take a closer look at how Democracy came from the ancient Greeks and how Humanism influence this political approach.

The Greek belief of Humanism - celebrating the human being, shows up in many aspects of their culture...their whole line-up of Gods and Goddesses all took human form and characteristics (flaws included)

Unlike the Egyptian Gods, who were also connected to aspects of the natural world, The Greeks had a whole family of "super" human deities, didn't they?
