However, global processes deeply impact our daily lives and often intimately shape our identites, routines, and understanding of our own immeidate worlds. Economic, political, and cultural processes such as migration, consumerism, or political violence on a global scale might lead to an intense shift in our local experiences. From consuming avocados all year round to driving electric cars, or continuing to practice diasporic cultures-the global is enmeshed into the local.

In this assignment, you are requested to reflect on how you personal life might have been impacted by the transformations of our global world. Your essay should identify a component of your personal life that you experience frequently, or somehow shaped your life intimately (in Los Angeles or in your hometown/country) and describe how a global political, cultural, or economic process has lead to be present in your life. This reflection and analysis is open to a topic of your choosing, but has to address the relationship between your local life and its globalized dimensions.
