Strategic Management Assignment -
TOWS Matrix - Chapter 5 ESM
For this assignment you will use the factors from your SFAS to generate strategic options for your company using a TOWS Matrix.
A TOWS Matrix allows you to create a 2X2 matrix with internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) on one axis and external factors (opportunities and threats) on the other axis. Within this matrix you will develop 4 types of strategic options.
- In the quadrant where strengths meet opportunities (SO) you will generate strategic options that use the company's strengths to take advantage of opportunities.
- In the quadrant where strengths meet threats (ST) you will generate options which use the company's strengths to avoid or minimize threats.
- In the quadrant where weaknesses meet opportunities (WO) you will generate strategies which take advantage of opportunities by overcoming weaknesses. Basically, how can the company avoid missing out on opportunities despite their weaknesses?
- In the quadrant where weaknesses meet threats (WT) you will generate strategies that minimize weaknesses and avoid threats. How can the company ensure that its weaknesses don't leave it particularly vulnerable to threats?
