One can place an obstruction in a flowering river and measure the river flow rate by looking at the water height upstream of the obstruction. In an open channel flow such a device is called a weir.

Assume the volume flow rate, Q, over a weir is a function of the upstream water height, h, gravity g, and channel width, b. Use dimensional analysis to find the functional form of the dependence of Q upon the other variables.
