The following case example requires that based on the clinical information provided in this case, that you make a diagnosis of the client and formulate the diagnosis based on clinical criterion. Please justify your diagnosis with the appropriate clinical criterion for the disorder you have determined, and identify the psychosocial intervention(s) that would be considered when developing a treatment plan for the client/client systems in this case. Michael is a 36 year-old man who has been drinking wine, beer, and gin since he was 20 years-old. He states that his drinking has increased over the last year. When he first started drinking he would drink two glasses of gin when he would go partying with his friends. He reports that over the last year he has increased the number of drinks from two to four. When asked about why he started drinking more over the past year, he reported that it seems that two drinks did not give him 'the high' he likes to feel. He reported that he was told by his doctor last year that he needed to quit drinking as it is beginning to affect his liver. Additionally, he stated that he did try to quit at least three times since the doctor told him to stop drinking. When asked why he continued to drink after being told by his doctor to quit, he stated that he did not like to feel sick and it bothered him to see his hands shake. Furthermore, he stated that although he had the shakes, he still continued to go to work. He also mentioned that he has had a couple of 'DUIs' during this past year but he is not worried about them.
