In the case of Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, this highlights the rights of US citizens and the lack of rights to non-US citizens. In this case, we learn the treatment used on detainees at Guantanamo Bay are not unconstitutional so long as they are used on non-US citizens, and non-US citizens can be kept at Guantanamo Bay indefinitely with no trial or due process because the law and Constitution do not award those rights to non-US citizens. This is the same argument some use for detention camps at the border. In the case of Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that citizens had a right to marry someone of another race. Prior to this, some states allowed couples like Richard and Mildred Loving to be arrested for engaging in interracial relationships.
