Explicit bias was evident in the ruling of Flowers's convictions primarily because thevictims were white, witnesses were white, and the victims were white. For Cutis Flowers, without a direct link to the murder weapon,it was circumstantial evidence only to use witness recounts that were coerced and biased.Disproportionately white jurors were also subjects of racial bias that determined the case.Their behavior can be attributed to years of consistent incrimination of black defendants andextreme sentences because whenever there were African American jurors, their votes werealways against conviction.
