Ideally, a voltmeter has infinite internal resistance and can be placed across any device to read the voltage without affecting the result. A particular digital multimeter (DMM), a common laboratory tool, is connected across the circuit shown in Figure.
The expected voltage was 10.2 V. However, the DMM reads 7.61 V.
The large, but finite, internal resistance of the DMM was "loading" the circuit and causing a wrong measurement to be made. Find the value of the internal resistance RM of this DMM.
A diode is measured to pass 0.31mA at 0.70V forward bias, and 1.12mA at 0.75 V forward bias. What are its n and Is. Assume that kT/q=0.026V. For extra credit, if the diode passes 4mA at 0.9V forward bias, what is its forward parasitic resistance
Compute the output noise powers in each case, and show that TSSB = 2TDSB, and that therefore FSSB = 2FDSB. Assume that the conversion gains for the signal and its image are identical.
Writing the mathematical equations of a DC motor develop the complete model to derive the open loop transfer function between the operating speed and applied voltage.
When the motor runs at 1710 rpm, the line currentdrawn from the supply is 78 A at 0.85 PF lagging. Given that, stator iron loss is 2kW, windage and friction losses are 1.2kW andresistance between two stator terminals = 0.4W
You are repairing a guided transmission system made up oftransmitter module, coaxial link and a receiver. The receiver'serror rate has jumped dramatically recently after an electrical storm when several repairs were made to the system.
Inverse Z-transform and poles and zeros. When finding the inverse Z-transform of functions with z-1 terms in the numerator, the fact that z-1 can be thought of as a delay operator can be used to simplify the computation.
Consider the common-emitter amplifier shown in Figure. Draw the small signal equivalent circuit by assuming that the coupling capacitors are short circuits.
A temperature sensor enclosed in a thermo-well is used to measure temperature of a fluid.- Calculate the system transfer function.
Describe what effect the transfer function K1 (s) has on the system response. Describe what effect the transfer function K2(s) has on the system response.
Explain briefly the process of synchronizing a synchronous motor to the bus-bars. What conditions determine the instant of synchronization?
Consider an electric circuit consisting of a parallel RC circuit, where the resistance R is one kilo-ohm and the capacitance is 100 microfarads. A current source Is(t) is applied in parallel to the resistor and the capacitor.
Using circuit diagrams showing current directions in each mode of operation, describe how a dual converter is operated in the motoring and generating modes.
