Question: Consider the trapezoidal brick shown in the following figure.

The brick is surrounded by insulation on its four lateral surfaces. The heat flow is from left to right in the figure, and we may consider the conduction of heat as being only in the x-direction to a good approximation. (The angle the sides make with the base of the trapezoid is smaller than is shown in the sketch.)
