Question: Two A36 steel plates f in thick are connected by a triple-bolted two-cover plate butt joint (bearing-type connection). The bolts are 11 in in diameter and the length of the repeating section is 12 in. There is one bolt in the fins row, three bolts in the second row, and six bolts in the third row. Find the strength and efficiency of the joint. Use the AISC code. The bolts are A325 steel with the stress developing at the unthreaded portion of the shank.
