A bullet is fired at a wooden block which is at rest on a table. The bullet hits and embeds itself in the block. The mass of the bullet and the block are 0.2kg and 2.8kg respectively. Assuming there is no friction between the wooden block and the table, answer the following questions.

(a) If the speed of the bullet is 240m/s find the speed of the block just after the collision.

(b) Find the energy loss in the collision and explain the reason for such a large energy loss.
