A 2.00-kg block is pushed against a 400 N/m spring, compressing it 22.0 cm. When the block is released, it moves along a frictionless horizontal surface and then up an incline. The angle of the incline is 30.00 and the coefficient of kinetic friction with the incline is 0.25.

Use the conservation of energy law to find

a) the speed of the block just after leaving the spring;

b) the distance the block travels up the incline;

c) the maximum compression of the spring when the block returns to it.

Contains real numbers of arbitrarily large : If S exists, then S(x, y) = 0 ∈ R. Then by Problem 4 there must be neighborhoods U of x and V of y in K such that S(u, v) ∈ R and |S(u, v)| 1 for all u ∈ U and v ∈ V . Show, however, that each of U and V contains real numbers of arbitrarily l..
Problem regarding the compact closure : Hint: Given any x ∈ X , let U be a neighborhood of x with compact closure. Show that there is a continuous real function f on X ,0 at x , and 1 on X \U . Use this function to show that x is not in the closure of K \U .
Cauchy net converges to some element : The uniform space is called complete if every Cauchy net converges to some element of S (for the topology of U ). If a metric space (S, d) is complete, prove it is also complete as a uniform space.
