1. For a series RLC circuit with resistance 5 KOhm, capacitance 100 picoFarad, and inductance 0.025 Henry, what is the inductive and capacitive reactance, and the impedance at frequency 80 kHz, and what are the natural and the free oscillation mode frequencies? Provide the results within 1 Hz accuracy.
2. Experimentally, the free oscillation mode frequency is obtained by a read out from the oscilloscope screen. A student has found that 5 full periods of the damped oscillations cover 5.0 major divisions on the horizontal scale, with time-sweep knob indicating 10 microsecond/division. What is the frequency obtained from the experimental read out? With preserved setting of the oscilloscope (and a time-sweep subdivision being 0.2 of the horizontal division), is it possible to distinguish this read out from the resonance frequency f0 theoretically obtained in Problem 1, and examined experimentally too?
Heat is extracted from a certain quantity of steam at 100 degrees celsius. Thus the steam changes into ice at 0 degrees celsius. If this energy were used to accelerate the ice from rest, what would be the linear speed of the ice.
A 0.7 kg block of ice is sliding by you on a very slippery floor at 3.5m/s. As it goes by, you give it a kick perpendicular to its path. Your foot is in contact with ice block for 0.003 seconds.
Next you eliminate the 11 kg mass, place the rod horizontally, and strike one end with a hammer. How much time t would elapse before a microphone at the other end of the bar will detect a disturbance.
The horizontal component Fx is shown by the histogram below as function of position along x-axis. There is also a kinetic frictional force of 0.50 N between mass and surface.
Immediately before collision, the linebacker is slipping with a velocity of 8.6 m/s north and the halfback is sliding with a velocity of 7.4 m/s east.
Compute the force of tension or compression
A 37-kg girl is bouncing on a trampoline. All through a certain interval after she leaves the surface of the trampoline, her kinetic energy decreases to 215 J from 430 J. How high does she rise during this interval? Avoid air resistance.
Estimate the initial speed of that car assuming a level road. What would be the equilibrium temperature when a 252 block of copper at 275 is placed in a 136 aluminum calorimeter cup containing 807 of water at 14.90.
Two capacitors, one 17.5 ?F and the other 12.2 ?F are connected in series across a 15 V battery. What is the charge stored on the 12.2 ?F capacitor
It stops 90 cm from where you free it. The spring steady is 370 N/m. What is the coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the table.
Two insulated wires, each 2.50 m long, are taped together to form a two-wire unit that is 2.50 m long. One wire carries a current of 7A; the other carries a smaller current I in the opposite direction. The two wire unit is placed at an angle of 78..
A vertical straight wire carrying an upward26-A current exerts an attractive force per unit length of 7.3×10?4N/m, What is the direction of the current in the second wire?
