A block of mass 9.0 kg is placed on a horizontal table and is connected to a second hanging block with mass M by a cord passing over a frictionless pulley. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the table is 0.3, and the coefficient of static friction is 0.5.

Determine:

a) the maximum mass M for which system will stay at rest

b) the mass of M for which the block slides on the table at constant speed

c) the tension in the cord when the system accelerates at 2 m/s^2
