A ladder of weight 200 N and length 10 meters leans against a smooth, friction less wall. A fire fighter of weight 600 N climbs a distance up the ladder. The coefficient of static friction between the floor and the ladder is 0.5. The angle between the floor and the ladder is 50 degrees. Find the maximum distance the fire fighter can climb up the ladder if the ladder is not to slip?
