In order to determine the mass of a molecule, first an electron is removed from the molecule. The resulting ion is accelerated from rest by an electric potential difference 3.4 104 V and then enters perpendicularly a uniform magnetic field whose magnitude is 0.82 T. Its trajectory in the magnetic field is measured to be a circle of radius 0.13 m.
