The tension bars in the stem of the reinforced concrete retaining wall are No. 9 at 7 in. o.c. and are to be lap spliced to similar dowels extending up from the footing. Required As = 1.50 in.2 /ft. Use f′c = 3000 psi. Cover on the bars from the rear face of the wall is 2 in., and cover from the end of the wall to the edge bar, measured in the plane of the bars, is 3 in.
