Four motors are packaged for sale in a certain warehouse. These motors were randomly selected from a large lot known to contain 10% defectives. Let Y be an RV denoting the number of defectives among the four sold.

a) Is Y a discrete or continuous RV? Find its probability distribution function.

(b) The purchaser of the motors is guaranteed the option of returning the defectives for repair. If the repair cost is given by 3Y^2 + Y + 2, find the expected repair cost the warehouse owner must be prepared to pay.
