The drag on ball A in fluid Y (extremely expensive and rare) is to be estimated from tests run on ball B in air (fairly inexpensive fluid). Ball A has a diameter of 1 ft and we want to drag it during fluid Y at 80degreeF at 10 ft/s. Ball B has a diameter of 0.5 ft and the experiments will be performed in air. (i) Derive relevant dimensionless groups and use these groups to compute the air speed required for tests on ball B (m/s) to ensure similarity for ball A in fluid Y (ii) Given the drag of ball B during air is 1 1bf, what would the drag on ball A be in fluid Y (in lbf)? The viscosity of fluid Y at 80degreeF is 3*10^-3 Pa*s; the density of fluid Y is 1000kg/m^3. You may suppose the density of air is 0.0025 slug/ft^3; the viscosity of air is 2*10^-5 Pa*s. You might assume the drag force on a sphere depends on the relative speed V, the sphere diameter D, the fluid density p, and the fluid viscosity Mu.
