Impact of ISO 9000 on Operational Performance Abstract: As ISO standard emerged in late 1980, many organizations wanted to be certified in ISO's management system standard to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their organizations' operations. The aim of this paper is to explore the impact of implementation of ISO 9000 on operation performance for some UK based companies for the last ten years. The research will try to answer to what extend ISO 9000 can guarantee the success of these companies who applied it by looking into internal and external factors which may contribute in organization performance.
Design/methodology/approach: This research is based on the literature review and case studies approaches by searching for any articles relevant to the ISO 9000 on Operational Performance from internet databases specifically the International Journal of Quality Reliability Management (IJQRM). This research is helpful to evaluate challenges that might arise on the implementation of ISO 9000 and subsequent implications. The internal and external impacts factors on the operation performance are also evaluated in order to determine potential reasons and causes.
Finding: This paper shows the positive impact of ISO 9000 if implemented correctly and as planned internally, as well as if an organization has foreseen the external environments factors correctly.
