Learning Outcome 1: Describe the contemporary mental health issues faced by diverse peoples.

Overview of Assessment

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Act-2022 (the Act) has a set of core mental health and wellbeing principles. Two principles recognised for their importance during the Royal Commission are Gender safety principle and Cultural safety principle.

Students are to select either Gender safety principle or Cultural safety principle and address the following assessment questions in a written essay. Your submission must include an introduction and conclusion and be supported with evidence-based literature.

Assessment Task

Assessment Question 1:
Students are to explore how Trauma Informed Care can be utilised in caring for a consumer based on their chosen principle in adulthood.

Assessment Question 2:
Students are to identify and discuss one (1) mental health service in Victoria that provides mental health support services that would be appropriate based on the chosen principle.
