Discussion: On-demand service companies

Purpose
The purpose of this discussion is for you to explore and explain both the appeal of on-demand service companies (e.g. Uber) and the negative consequences of these business models. You will look at these companies through both a positive and negative lens.

This discussion supports unit learning outcome 2.

This should take you about 20 minutes to complete.

Task
Step 1: Think of a time you have used an on-demand service company such as Uber, Netflix, or Airbnb.

Step 2: Post your answer to the following two questions in the discussion forum. Keep your answer to both questions to around 150 words in total.

Choose one service you have used and discuss the appeal for both the consumers and companies. (Hint: Think about brand loyalty, consumer behaviour and disruption).
Describe any negative consequences of the increased use of on-demand services.

Step 3: Review the posts by your peers and note the similarities in their answers about different companies.

Step 4: Reply to a peer whose post is different to yours, contrasting your ideas and outlining the differences between the companies you have chosen.
