Bias language can reinforce stereotypes and affect people's perception of others. Click on the link below and review what the American Psychological Association says in the tab labeled "General Principles for Reducing Bias".

One way to adapt our verbal communication is to become more aware of what we say and how it affects others. In this assignment, we will look at some examples of biased language and adapt the messages accordingly so they are bias-free.
1. Choose 5 of the following sentences and explain why they are biased. Use information from the required reading to support your thoughts for each of the five sentences.
2. Then, for each of the five you select, rewrite the sentence so it is inclusive (in other words, bias-free).
3. Provide a sixth example of biased language, not listed in the sentences below, and explain how you could adapt it to be inclusive.
