A ring of radius R has uniform charge per unit lenght ? C/m (?>0), and z is the dince along its axis.

a) Explain why the electric field must be zero at the center of the ring (no need to integrate; think about the symmetry) and must decrease as 1/z^2 far from the ring.

b) Calculate the electric field at an arbitrary distance z. Specify its direction.
