Assignment:

The idea that biological race is a myth. Nonetheless, race as a socio-cultural construct continues to have enormous effects on our social structure (and also interacts with other aspects of identity to produce compounded inequalities for people of color, especially those who occupy other minority identities, such as women, children, immigrants, and people with disabilities). Using articles, lecture notes, and the required podcasts and film, please explain why biological race is a myth. Next, reflect on the social-structural reality of race and racial inequality as you understand it. Finally, discuss how this system teaches people at the top of the structure not to recognize their privilege, and reflect on your own experiences based on what you learned in this unit.
