Jasmine and Derek Hunt are a married couple who you will follow through their pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum course. Jasmine is a 24-year-old Black female who has an associate degree. She owns her own photography business where she specializes in newborn and maternity photography. She met her husband Derek through mutual friends at their church. Derek is a 27-year-old Caucasian male who teaches middle school math. They have been married for 2 years. They are an active couple who enjoys hiking with their chocolate lab and kayaking. They are active in their church community. Jasmine's family lives in town, and Derek's family is out of state.

You are a nurse in an OB clinic (and you also work PRN at the local hospital in their LDRP unit) and you will be caring for this couple during their pregnancy.

Jasmine has been admitted to the Labor and Delivery Unit for induction due to her pre-eclampsia diagnosis. Over the next three weeks, the case study will follow her during her induction and delivery process.

You are back for your second shift of the weekend, and Jasmine is still laboring with Pitocin.
