1. Explain what is meant by the term ‘ loading effect '.

2. A voltmeter, having a figure of merit of 15 k Ω/ volt, has voltage ranges of 0.1 V, 1 V, 3 V and 10 V. If the resistance of the moving coil is 30Ω, determine the multiplier values required for each range. Sketch a circuit diagram, showing how the four ranges could be selected.
