Problem

Expand on the insights your peer shared and other ways they can use them to effect positive social change. Two social identities that are most salient to me are being African American and being younger than most leaders in my workplace. For me, these identities are empowering but also challenging in leadership. As an African American, I may face racial stereotypes or biases that questions my capabilities. I recently experienced this firsthand, someone made the comment that they talked me to several times over the phone but "they could not believe I was black". The comment was made after they saw me on a Team's meeting with my camera on. This identity has also been empowering and gives me perspective. Being one of the youngest leaders at my workplace, it may be assumed that I lack experience. However, my age allows me to bring fresh ideas to program challenges. Explain at least two ways social identities can influence our interactions with colleagues and/or clients.
