Case: As the police chief of Little Town, USA, you have a lot going on. On the top of your list is building strong public relations in the community. Every day you are faced with important decisions, today is no different. You have a person that has made application to be a police officer at your department that was previously part of a hate group 10 years ago. The requirements to apply is that an applicant simply not lie on the application, so when asked the applicant told the truth about his involvement in the hate group and is otherwise qualified for the job. If you don't hire the applicant the department could possibly be sued by the applicant costing millions since the qualifications listed for the job did not list hate group affiliation in the past as disqualifying. If you hire the applicant the community may be outraged, riot, call for your resignation, or worse. But you are the chief, you have to make the best decision for the department, and the community.
