Case: After you have provided CHF discharge instructions to Jackie Smith's daughter, she reveals that she feels that she cannot take care of her mother. She states, "Mom has been weak and not able to help as much when I try to help her walk and do the things she normally does at home. I already am worn out taking care of my disabled husband and working. I just don't know how I can do it. Mom has high blood pressure also and I don't know how to help her keep her blood pressure down. I don't want to make things worse for her, but I just don't know how to care for her."
