Summarize what Hannah Arendt means with vita activa, and the distinction she introduces between labor, work, and action (pp. 103-110 of your textbook). Hint: she wants to preserve the autonomy of politics. Politics and society are obviously related, but they are not and should not be the same thing. Why?
Based on what you read of Foucault and Arendt, is a "politics of life" a good or bad things? Foucault, for instance, asks how it was possible that progress in welfare and totalitarianism happened to develop together. Arendt points out that precisely when human rights are supposedly recognized everywhere, refugees with no documentation lose every human right they used to have.
