Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) in the liver is a relativelynon-specific enzyme and will oxidize a variety of alcohols, including ethanol and methanol. The Km of ADH for ethanol andmethanol are 1 mM and 10 mM respectively. The Vmax is the same with both substrates. Which is the better substrate and why?
