Explain qualitatively the following phenomena.
(a) At a certain momentum, the cross sections for p+_ neutron s(p+n) and p-_ proton s(p-p) interactions are equal, whereas s(K+n)=22mb and s(K-p)=55mb.
(b) The ?0 and K0 mesons both decay predominantly to (p++p-). The mean life of the ?0 is 10-23 s, whereas that of the K0 is 0.89x10-10 s.
(c) The mean life of the p+-meson is 2.6x10-8 s, whereas that of the p0-meson is 0.8x10-16 s.
