Case Study- Maisie
1. Define what Lifespan perspective is. Then choose two themes/concepts of this perspective and relate them to the film. For example, you could choose to discuss Maisie's plasticity in development, the concept of Maisie's development being multidirectional/multidimensional, or how Maisie's development is influenced by multiple competing factors.... Provide concise examples from the film that relate to each of the theme/concept you choose.
2. Think about all of the different theories or perspectives that we learned in class (ecological systems theory, Behaviorism/social learning, Piaget's cognitive-development theory, psychoanalytic, Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, Erikson's psychosocial stages of development, attachment theory, etc.). Then choose two theories and/or perspectives that were reflected in any part of the film. (I don't have a set idea of what these will be. I am NOT looking for specific ones. You decide.) Define each theory/perspective. Then provide specific evidence from the film that explains your choice.
3. Reflect on Maisie's past and current lived experiences. Discuss specific risk factors and protective factors that are present throughout her development. Secondly, what did this film teach you? What did you learn that you didn't know before? For example, did you learn more on the topic of childhood trauma, memory, treatment, child development, etc.
